VILLAGE AND HOMESTEAD

Village of Brje lies in beautiful and unique Karst region in the west part of Slovenia. It is situated on the border with Italy not far from the beaches in Sesljan (10 km) and it is only 20 km away from the city of Trieste.

Homestead is an ideal starting point for the trips along the paths of the cultural heritage or for the discovering of the remains of the 1. WW and the nearby Isonzo front. The surrounding countryside is ideal for recreational and professional cyclist with nearby Alpe Adria cycling routes. Karst is also great for climbers. You can find natural climbing areas close to the homestead.

Only a short walk away there is an interesting cave called Vodenica, anjd other interesting natural sights. Amongst the cultural heritage there is a hill of Saint Lenart worth visiting because of its beautiful views over the Adriatic sea and the Karst with the remains of the old Romanic church and still visible remnants of the fort on the top. You can visit shepherd’s hut made of stone and admire the beautiful carst landscape. You can visit military graveyards near the village and railway route which are remainders of the 1 WW and the battles of Isonzo.

We offer guided tours in interesting nearby locations: Trieste and the Miramare castle, cultural heritage of the Carst region, to Aquileia and Grado and to the natural reservations of the Isonzo river mouth, to Cavanate and Škocjanski zatok.

The apartment is a part of a large, more than 150 years old renovated homestead at the edge of the village. We bought the homestead in 1996 all covered in ivy and renovated it into the stars. Here you will find peace in the calming atmosphere of the borjač or by walking through peaceful and relaxing herb garden behind the house.
